CatchMore season 2012 summary

From mr Kari Danielsson of guide company CatchMore we have got the following report:

Summary of fishing year 2012 // We started fishing in March, it was an incredibly good fishing, 13 first fishing trips resulted in pike over 100 cm, with four pikes at most, over 100 cm. Then came May, which will be a safe pike month, it was the worst May fishing I have experienced in all my years fishing. Got an explanation later, it had apparently come in very cold water in the Baltic Sea, which never happened before. In total there were lot over 1,000 pikes 2012 by myself and guests, of which 61 or 62 were over 100 cm. We got so many pike over 90 cm as well, so pike fishing in 2013 will be very interesting. Walleye and perch fishing was a little on the side of this year, but it came up fine Zander and perch "perch of 2.4 kg was pulled from a friend just 200 meters from the camp. Unfortunately we did not get up the largest pike, appreciate it to 125-130 cm but we have high hopes for season 2013!

Ice fishing for pike & pikeperch.

For many european anglers Sweden is known for long and cold winters, especially up north in Lapland, and the most famous ice fishing is for char in the norhtwestern part of the country. But during the last couple of years something has happened, and Swedish angler and guides have broken new land and now successfully target not only big perch and pike, but also pikeperch!

Here are some SwedenFishing guides who offer ice fishing for different species;

Winter fly fishing in central Sweden!

Winter fly fishing in minus degrees! Even if it´s hard to belive it is possible to fly fish in Sweden right now. In the small stream Norrbyströmmen near Motala guests can book and fish even if the snow is covering the surrounding landscape. Fishing host Manni Svensson reports; `Despite my warnings about the cold weather Magnus, André and Jarri really wanted to give it a try, so they arrived and and fished here last Saturday. Four rainbows and one brown trout were landed, and many were lost, including a big bow that did not fit into the net. Best fly was a lightly weighted black nymph in size 14 fished just under the surface. Now we await the next period with little warmer weather.´

Kratte Masugn & Hotel Mellanfjärden

We have now added two new places to the web, both located in Central Sweden:

Kratte Masugn Conference & Adventure (blast furnace) is located on the border between Gästrikland and Dalarna in the centre of a triangle formed by Gävle, Avesta and Falun. The result is an opportunity for a varied fishing experience as many of the lakes and waterways are just waiting to be discovered. And while you’re fishing you can stay at our top modern facility with both conference and holiday possibilities. We can offer varied lodging standards, but always excellent fishing.

Hotel Mellanfjärden is a small hamlet on the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea with endless fishing possibilities in untouched areas of the coast. The hotel and restaurant are housed in old harbour warehouses built on posts in the water. The mix of sea, archipelago, coves and islands form an open invitation to fishing in the middle of nature. This is where you can catch silvery sea trout and large sea pike!
